a message from NURTUREart related to Sandy:
“All of us at NURTUREart are very saddened to see the toll that Hurricane Sandy has taken on the art community of our city. From the artists’ studios destroyed in Red Hook, Dumbo and Greenpoint to the galleries flooded in Chelsea. Our heart goes out to anyone who has seen their hard, creative work washed away—artists, organizations and galleries—and especially to all of the many generous and committed friends of NURTUREart effected by the storm, you have done so much for us over the years, from hosting our benefits (ZieherSmith, Claire Oliver, James Cohan), to collaborating with us and volunteering on our boards, panels and committees (Asya Geisberg, Ed Winkleman, Printed Matter) to making the delicious food served at our annual benefit (Cowgirl in the West Village).
The silver lining in this stormcloud is the incredible demonstration of strength, resiliency, and generosity in our community; we are awed and inspired by everyone’s spirit and know you will all come back stronger than ever.”
